Hubungan Intensitas Latihan Make Up dengan Persepsi Keterampilan Rias Wajah pada Mahasiswa Tata Rias dan Kecantikan

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to determine the level of make-up practice intensity, students’ perceptions of facial make-up skills, and the relationship between make-up practice intensity and perceived facial make-up skills among students of the Makeup and Beauty Study Program at Universitas Negeri Padang.

Research Design and Methodology: This study employed a quantitative correlational design. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire distributed via Google Forms to 80 students of the 2022 cohort. The data were analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test.

Findings and Discussion: The findings indicate that make-up practice intensity is reflected through practice frequency, duration, and discipline, while perceived facial make-up skills are assessed through mastery of make-up techniques, accuracy in using cosmetics and make-up tools, and the ability to complete facial make-up procedures. The Pearson correlation analysis yielded a coefficient of 0.696 with a significance value of <0.001, indicating a positive and strong relationship between make-up practice intensity and perceived facial make-up skills.

Implications: The findings suggest that consistent and continuous make-up practice is associated with more positive perceptions of students’ facial make-up skills. The study highlights the importance of providing opportunities for regular practical activities to support the development of students’ make-up competencies.
